Fishing St. Marys

St. Simons, Jekyll and Brunswick: piers, sounds and oyster-lined creeks. Fish the moving tide - the range here is large.

What's biting now (Fall): Redfish and spotted seatrout feed hard in the creeks; one of the best seasons on the Georgia coast.

Commonly caught in this area: Redfish, seatrout, sheepshead, tarpon in summer and whiting.

Also caught here: whiting, croaker, tripletail, tarpon, blacktip shark.

Tidal rivers and creek mouths are best when the tide is moving and draining bait out of the marsh. Fish points, bends and oyster bars on the falling tide.

How the bite outlook works

The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines tide range, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
