An island 13 miles offshore, famous for striped bass from the beaches and rocks.
What's biting now (Fall): Striped bass blitzes along the beaches and breachways; tautog season on the rocks.
Commonly caught in this area: Striped bass, bluefish, black sea bass and fluke.
Also caught here: false albacore, Atlantic cod, tautog.
Read the beach before you cast: look for darker troughs, rip currents and cuts in the sandbar where fish feed. Sand fleas and shrimp are reliable surf baits, and the first and last hours of daylight are usually best.
