Fishing Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel
Virginia Beach, Lynnhaven and Rudee inlets and the famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, where the bay meets the ocean.
What's biting now (Fall): Striped bass, speckled trout and red drum around the Bay Bridge-Tunnel and inlets; tautog move onto structure.
Commonly caught in this area: Striped bass, speckled trout, red drum, flounder, cobia, sheepshead and tautog.
Also caught here: croaker, cobia, sheepshead, tautog, Spanish mackerel.
Bridges and channels concentrate current, so fish hold on the up-current side of pilings and in the shadow line at night. Heavier tackle helps pull fish away from the structure.
