Fishing Lake St. Clair
Lowland lakes west of the Cascades, many close to Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and Vancouver. Mild winters mean many of these lakes are stocked and fished year-round.
What's biting now (Fall): Fall stocking of catchable and jumbo trout in many western Washington lakes; trout feed well as water cools.
Commonly caught in this area: Rainbow trout (stocked), cutthroat, kokanee, plus largemouth bass, perch and crappie in warmer months.
Also caught here: smallmouth bass, bluegill, brook trout.
Freshly stocked trout tend to cruise near the surface and along the shoreline in the first days after a plant. Simple setups work: a small spinner, a bobber with bait or PowerBait, or a slowly trolled small lure.

How the bite outlook works
The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines recent stocking, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
