Fishing Indian River Inlet
Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Indian River Inlet: surf, a breakwater harbor and one of the East Coast's best-known inlets for striped bass.
What's biting now (Fall): Striped bass run along the coast and Indian River Inlet; tautog around jetties.
Commonly caught in this area: Striped bass, flounder, bluefish, tautog and kingfish.
Also caught here: tautog, black sea bass, croaker, kingfish.
Inlets funnel bait in and out with every tide, and predators wait at the edges. Fish the last part of the incoming and first part of the outgoing tide, and watch the current - inlets can be dangerous for small boats.

How the bite outlook works
The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines tide range, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
