Fishing Carrabelle

Apalachicola west to Pensacola: sugar-white surf beaches, long Gulf piers and big bays. Note that the western Panhandle is on Central time.

What's biting now (Fall): Fall is prime time: the mullet run draws snook, tarpon, redfish and bluefish along the beaches and inlets, and big schools of redfish gather on the flats.

Commonly caught in this area: Redfish, spotted seatrout, flounder, pompano, Spanish and king mackerel and cobia in spring.

Also caught here: Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, cobia, pompano, ladyfish, jack crevalle, gray triggerfish, blacktip shark.

Read the beach before you cast: look for darker troughs, rip currents and cuts in the sandbar where fish feed. Sand fleas and shrimp are reliable surf baits, and the first and last hours of daylight are usually best.

How the bite outlook works

The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines tide range, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
