Fishing Fort Pierce Inlet

Sebastian, Fort Pierce and St. Lucie inlets are some of the best-known snook spots in the state. Fish the inlets on moving water and the beaches when pompano and Spanish mackerel run.

What's biting now (Fall): Fall is prime time: the mullet run draws snook, tarpon, redfish and bluefish along the beaches and inlets, and big schools of redfish gather on the flats.

Commonly caught in this area: Snook, pompano, Spanish mackerel, tarpon, jacks and snapper.

Also caught here: jack crevalle, ladyfish, mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, blacktip shark.

Inlets funnel bait in and out with every tide, and predators wait at the edges. Fish the last part of the incoming and first part of the outgoing tide, and watch the current - inlets can be dangerous for small boats.

How the bite outlook works

The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines tide range, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
