Fishing Point Clear (Mobile Bay)

A big, brackish bay fed by the Mobile-Tensaw delta, with shell reefs and wharfs along the shore.

What's biting now (Fall): Redfish run near the mouth of Mobile Bay and flounder migrate to the Gulf through the passes.

Commonly caught in this area: Speckled trout, redfish, flounder and croaker.

Also caught here: croaker, black drum, hardhead catfish, jack crevalle, tripletail.

Shallow flats fish best on a rising tide that pushes fish up to feed. Move slowly, wear polarized glasses and look for tailing fish or nervous water. Cast ahead of fish, not on top of them.

How the bite outlook works

The rating is our estimate, not a guarantee. It combines tide range, wind, rain and storms, temperature swings, the moon phase and how well the solunar periods line up with dawn and dusk. Fish do not read forecasts - local knowledge always wins. Read more
